RESEARCH OFFICER

SIDREC is a one-stop independent dispute resolution centre for disputes involving monetary claims relating to capital market products and services. We were set up under the Capital Markets and Services (Dispute Resolution) Regulation 2010 (“Regulations”) to provide free, fair and expert help to retail investors and capital market intermediaries.

Our team is small but power-packed. SIDREC offers competitive remuneration packages for our staff. We provide a conducive and comfortable working environment in an office tower connected to the Bangsar LRT station in Kuala Lumpur. Research Officer

Job Description

The research officer supports the CEO in various areas of his/her responsibilities, many of which require detailed and meticulous research and information from various sources and the preparation of the necessary documentation:

  • Conduct the necessary research, information gathering and other groundwork on the development and implementation of SIDREC’s business planning and decisions
  • Conduct the necessary research, information gathering and other groundwork and support the CEO in the preparation of documentation relating to the Board, the Board Committees, the SIDREC Appeals Committee and the Panel of Mediators & Adjudicators
  • Support the CEO in the review of documents reviewed by the CEO on a daily basis by acting as a “gatekeeper”
  • Coordinate tasks and projects with internal and external stakeholders the CEO deals with, including but not limited to the preparation of talking points, speeches, presentations, correspondences, reports, proposals and other documents for the CEO, many of which will require meticulous and detailed research and information gathering from various sources and have organisational impact
  • Researches, prioritises and follows-up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the CEO including those of a sensitive and confidential nature and work closely and effectively with the CEO to determine the appropriate course of action, referral or response
  • Support the CEO in the building of relationships crucial to the growth and success of the Center. This includes, meeting with suitable parties on behalf of the CEO and accurately summarising the message for reporting back to the CEO; attending internal and external meetings with the CEO and take confidential notes or minutes, noting matters that require actions
  • Support any policy and research related work identified by the CEO
  • Undertake such other assignments/projects as may be instructed by the CEO

Job Requirement: Qualification and Experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree / Professional Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law, Engineering and other related qualifications
  • Strong retail capital market knowledge
  • Experience in the development of business plans and preparation of policy papers
  • Experience in organisational transformation would be an added advantage

Other General Requirements

  • Able to work effectively and efficiently with the CEO
  • Proven ability to prioritise conflicting needs, handle matters expeditiously and proactively follow through on projects to successful completion, very often with deadline pressures
  • Proven ability to adapt to change and rapid-changing circumstances
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Effective engagement and communication skills
  • Self-initiated with analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, proactive and results oriented
  • Meticulous, committed and able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion
