FINANCE MANAGER / ASSISTANT MANAGER

SIDREC is a one-stop independent dispute resolution centre for disputes involving monetary claims relating to capital market products and services. We were set up under the Capital Markets and Services (Dispute Resolution) Regulation 2010 to provide free, fair and expert help to retail investors and capital market intermediaries.

We have a vacancy and our requirements for the position are as follows:

Finance Manager / Assistant Manager

Job Description
  • Manage financial and accounting related matters to ensure sufficient financial resources for business operations, including:

    • Maintenance of the accounting records for all financial transactions; and
    • Ensure accurate and timely completion of the monthly and annual management accounts i.e. statement of profit and loss and other comprehensive income and statement of financial position

  • Manage the monthly and annual budgetary process for business activities and programmes, including:

    • Plan and prepare budget proposal for review by the Head of Operations (HOO) and finalisation by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and present to the relevant stakeholders;
    • Continuous monitoring of the approved budget and actual expenditure for the year; and
    • Prepare and present mid-year and Q3 analysis to the CEO and relevant stakeholders
  • Continuously perform due assessment for liquidity and working capital requirements to ensure any funds in excess of current requirements will be invested in low risk or conservative investments with optimum returns
  • Ensure robust and timely payment, billing and receipting process, and maintenance of adequate accounting register/records
  • Maintain and update policies and procedures relating to finance and procurement, including, providing support and guidance to other team members to ensure full compliance of the policies and procedures
  • Prepare Board papers for any areas relating to finance and accounts
  • Liaise and coordinate with external auditors for the smooth completion of annual audit
  • Coordinate with tax agent for timely preparation and submission of tax returns
  • Liaise with company secretary to obtain necessary advice and documents in support of the accounting and financial functions
  • Undertake operational work from time-to-time as may be instructed by the HOO or CEO
  • Undertake research and other assignments/projects as may be instructed by the HOO or CEO from time-to-time, including contributing to any special projects that are being periodically managed by the company

Job Requirement: Qualification and Experience

  • Must be a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA)
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree/Professional Degree in Finance/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent
  • Professional qualification holders, i.e. ACCA/CIMA/CPA would be an advantage
  • At least eight (8) years working experience in full set of accounts, audit and taxation
  • Experience or exposure to capital market would be an advantage
  • Preferably Managers specialising in Finance – General/Cost Accounting or equivalent

Other General Requirement

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Analytical skills, critical thinking and an affinity for numbers and details are essential
  • Computer literate with SQL Accounting Software and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word
  • Meticulous, committed and able to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, proactive and results oriented
  • Strong knowledge and/or interest of IT matters would be an advantage
